Commerical Fryers Explained

23/01/2023

Commercial Gas & Electric Fryers come in various shapes and sizes; 3 burner  fryers, 4 burner fryers chip fryers, single tank fryers, twin tank fryers, twin basket fryer, countertop fryers, twin basket single tank fryers and on and on the list goes. Fryers can be used to cook a variety of foods but most usually they are used for as chip fryers and for cooking fish and most commonly seen in fast food take-aways across Ireland.

Key points to remember before you Purchase

*How much use will your fryer get?

*Do you need a counter top or a free standing unit for more industrial cooking.

Weighing up your options can help you narrow down your best options and get the right equipment for your business from the start.

Before you decide to purchase your fryer you will need to assess what you are going to cook in the fryer and do you need a single or double tank fryer.

Choosing a single tank fryer allows you to cook one type of food in the fryer, well you can cook other foods if you like but there may be a cross taste contamination, such as your chips having a fish taste if you were to cook fish in the same tank as your chips

A double tank fryer allows you to cook different items in both tanks so there is no cross contamination in the oil when cooking.

Finding the right Fryer for your business will depend on your usage. For small cafes, deep fryers of 4 to 8-liter capacity are enough. For high-volume restaurants, deep fryers of 10 to 20-liter capacity are recommended.

Counter top Fryers

Perfect for people tight on space as they sit on the work top.

These are perfect for school canteens as our Customer Sharavogue School uses their’s to get through the lunchtime rush.

You can maximize your space by using a counter top fryer, but they are suited to light use in a deli, coffee shop or food trucks and school canteens.

Free Standing fryers

Stand alone fryers take up more space in a business and are more suitable for busy takeaways or food establishments.

As they have a larger tank capacity with options of twin tanks or single tanks, cooking and recovery times are more consistent with a larger fryer.

They are also designed for constant use through out the day on a continuous basis.

Serious restauranteurs, such as multiple award winners and long-time customers of Caterboss, Aileen and Patrick Hanley from The Strand Cahore will testify  the importance of separating their fish from their chips when cooking, which requires a double tank fryer

By choosing a twin tank option you maximize what you cook in your fryer without any cross contamination in the cooking.

Before you decide on your purchase of a Deep Fat Fryer you will need to consider what usage band your requirement fits into; this will help narrow your search and get the correct equipment for your business, and do you need a single or double tank fryer?

Light Use
