Which is the Best Commercial Dishwasher?

10/09/2020

In any busy bar or restaurant an efficient, hassle free dishwasher can be completely taken for granted if it does what it is supposed to do without fuss or bother. But like all essential kitchen equipment, a substandard model can cause huge difficulties. Dirty dishes piling up on work surfaces and tables slows down the production everywhere.  If staff are frantically trying to wash a few cups between customers or waiting by the rumbling dishwasher for clean utensils, it is not good for morale, for business and for your own blood pressure.   A dishwasher that is outdated or has seen too many repairs and is just simply held together with hope, spit and odd bits of string can be a complete daily headache.  If this sounds familiar to you, then it may be time to rethink and make that investment in clean dishes and glasses and peace of mind.

At Cater Boss we have years of experience in sourcing the very best commercial dishwashers or glasswashers for your needs. There are so many options for commercial dishwashers available which will make cleaning the tableware a pleasant, quick and effective task.   We are always happy to advise on which option suits your business, work load and budget and the criteria you might consider before a purchase.

Under counter Commercial Dishwashers

Clean dishes are a crucial in getting repeat business and for some smaller restaurants and bars and for making food service go smoothly.  However, space can be a deciding factor when purchasing a dishwasher, and an undercounter dishwasher may be the only option.    A Commercial dishwashers differs from a residential dishwasher, not so much in size, but in speed.  Commercial dishwashers have a super-fast wash cycle and can do an excellent clean in about a minute and a half for some models.  Unlike the fast cycle on home models, the commercial dishwasher is designed to do a fantastic clean at the shorter setting.  Of course, you still need a rinse station prior to stacking as some food debris will need to be removed prior to loading.  A quick chat with our experienced staff can lead you to the model which will bring your business the ultimate in speed and performance.

Pass Through or Conveyor Dishwashers

A pass through dishwasher is vital to any larger catering business.  Ideal for cafeterias, hotels, hospitals, schools and colleges.   The pass through dishwasher gets through more dishes at an incredibly fast rate.  Some models boast a turnaround time of 45 seconds.     A conveyor type dishwasher is the only sensible option in establishments where there is a high demand for dishes in a very short period of time. They are more expensive than undercounter commercial dishwashers and they do take up more space, but the power, capacity and speed will keep food service running smoothly.

Criteria to consider before buying

Size

Space is often at a premium for everyone in the food and hospitality industry. We devote most of the floor space to customer seating, and this is has become even more essential since the Covid-19 restrictions were imposed.  Behind the counter and kitchen space can be quite cramped.  The dishwasher needs to be a good fit.  It should fit, but also be in a good space for the flow of work to be uninterrupted and for usage to be practical.   At Caterboss, we can advise on the practical considerations when it comes to fitting the correct commercial dishwasher for your kitchen.

 Noise

Commercial dishwashers can be loud.  Depending on the space you are working in, you may need to look for a quieter model and avoid customers shouting at each other over afternoon tea. The smallest under counter dishwasher models are quieter.

Temperature

Low temperature or high temperature are entirely a matter of choice for the buyer.  The low temperature models don’t tend to heat up on the exterior and the dishes are sanitised using chemicals rather than the high temperature clean.

High temperature models are considered better for the environment and many claim that the dishes are cleaner.   A higher temperature model will sanitise the dishes as well as clean them and can reach a 180 degree rinse cycle

There is a lot to consider when purchasing your commercial dishwasher and as with all investments, it is important to choose the model that suits all your requirements.  Once you get it right, you won’t have to think about it again and lets face it, we have enough things to consider in business today and a smoothly operated kitchen goes a long way to ease the burdens.  Pick up the phone and call us at Caterboss today, we would love to talk you through to finding the very best dishwashers available.
